With Notebook and pen, I am Alone

My husband had sent me away on a spa weekend. When I go on these I find time to reconnect with writing. I sit in the stillness of the world. I watch. Listen. And observe with all my senses. With my notebook in hand I scribble down all there is. In this moment I notices all the little things that pass by. The fuzzy stalks of the plant by the pond. The tiny bugs as the autumn chill nips at their frail bodies. The fish, still and at rest in the reeds. How the brook babbles and the far off sea lion barks. Food tastes much better when the bite is savoured. The coffee hot against my skin as it burns my throat. Suns warmth on my sweater teasing me to take a morning snooze. Times like these remind me how important it is to slow down. To feel and see and listen to everything and nothing. It’s going to be okay. Everything is just right.

What do you think?
